SUMMARY
Colonies encrusting, multiserial and sheet-like. The ancestrula is tatiform with about 6 spines around the distal part of the opesia.
Autozooids are moderately large, about 0.7 mm long by 0.5 mm wide, and elliptical in outline shape. The convex frontal shield is formed by about 16 costae (including the apertural bar) separated by slit-like lacunae. Costae taper towards the centre of the frontal shield, each costa having two raised lumen pores, one close to its origin and the second at the point of fusion with adjacent costae. The apertural bar is thickened, with a V-shaped tongue of calcification extending proximally towards the centre of the frontal shield. The orifice is large, about 0.16 mm long by 0.18 mm wide, rounded D-shaped and has 5 oral spines. Ovicells are unknown.
Avicularia have not been observed.
