Suffolk (around TM 467780)
In the pits at Wangford Common the large-scale cross bedded gravels of the Westleton Beds are divided into a 3-4 metre-thick unit with shallow dip (ca 6°) overlain by a 6-7 metre-thick unit with a steeper dip (ca 20°), both inclined towards the southeast. Despite the coarseness of the sediment and energetic depositional setting, some relatively unbroken mollusc shells can be found and these may be encrusted by bryozoans.
